🍠 Sweet potato ice cream recipe:
1 medium sweet potatoes, previously baked (approx. 1-1 1/2 cups)
1 1/2 cups soy milk (or any other vegan milk you like!) + more if needed
3-4 TBL maple syrup
2-3 TBL cocoa powder
Pinch of salt
Start with the smaller quantities of each ingredient. Blend everything together and give it a taste. If it needs more sweetness, add more maple syrup, if it needs more chocolate flavor, add the extra TBL of cocoa, if it's too thick, add more soy milk. Add all the contents into your Creami pint and freeze overnight. To make rocky road I added walnuts, vegan chocolate chips and vegan marshmallows. Enjoy!

    I actually hit the multigrain setting on my instant pot and it showed 40 minutes so I did 30 minutes to compromise between 20 and 40 and then I checked it and I wanted it a little bit more soft so I added 10 more minutes and then let it cool down and absorb the water and it was beyond delicious with a little bit of sea salt

    So many vegan cooks use coconut oil and coconut milk in recipes. THEY ARE STILL SATURATED FAT, having no place in a whole foods plant-based dietary regimen.

    • @LetsEatPlants

      Those ingredients work well for ice cream recipes because they help mimic the fattiness of dairy cream. 😊 But I have quite a few recipes on my channel with no coconut, no coconut oil, no nuts, etc. in case you are looking for a lower fat/ WFPB ice cream recipe! Just search “let’s eat plants ice cream” and they should come up. 😁

      @@LetsEatPlants The trouble is that so many eat as if what's on the fork is someone else's roulette game. Free oils, as with coconut milk, fat and its cream are not complete. Even whole coconut ought to be ingested in very small quantities. As my dear mentor, Dr. Michael Greger states: "People don't die of old age or natural causes. They die of disease." Atherosclerosis is the main cause of heart and stroke, now proven with even more data, that some dementias like Alzheimer's are also a result of fat not fully dissolving in the blood flow. • @LetsEatPlants

      Hahaha omg yes I do see those ingredients in a lot of cheese sauces! TBH you actually can’t taste them as individual ingredients. I mean, they don’t make the sauce taste onion-y or garlicky .. they just add flavor! But you could leave them out if you want to try. Hi! I watched a previous ice cream video where you use the Cuisinart ice cream maker and I was thinking of purchasing. Which of the two do you recommend? I do not have a lot of counter space and will need to store and take it out when I use it. Thank you.

    • @LetsEatPlants
      @LetsEatPlants Місяць тому

      Hi there! It really depends on your needs and preferences. The Cuisinart makes larger quantities and you don’t need to freeze your ice cream mixture for 24 hours before churning. (Just make sure you freeze the bowl! I just left mine in the freezer at all times.) The Ninja Creami is great for single serve, which gives more variety if you have spare pint containers from them, and gives you that “freshly churned” texture instantly. It is quite a bit louder than the Cuisinart and takes up slightly more space, but I do love the texture and consistency of ice cream it makes. It’s also easy to make healthy ice cream with it, since it can churn pretty much anything.. including plain frozen fruit like in this video… whereas the same ingredient mixture made in the Cuisinart may get icy over time in the freezer. Hope this helps!! 😃😃 Let me know if you have more questions. 😊

    • @heidyh.8739
      @heidyh.8739 Місяць тому

      @@LetsEatPlants Thank you so much! Thank you for letting me about the ice cream turning icy with the Cuisinart, that's what I was wondering. I just saw some videos on the Ninja Creami Deluxe, which is nice because it offers larger pints, but the size is big....wow, tough decision. I'm not vegan but I'm trying to cook 80% vegan and I'm also not drinking dairy, so my ice cream would be vegan. Do you keep the Ninja on your countertop? I will have to check if the original creami is not as tall as the deluxe, so maybe that's a good option. lol...sorry..I want a machine so bad but not an easy decision. After watching your ice cream videos it made me want to purchase a machine...I want to try your recipes -they better taste amazing, lol!

    • @LetsEatPlants
      @LetsEatPlants Місяць тому

      @@heidyh.8739 You’re welcome! So yes, just to clarify it’s not the Cuisinart making it icy.. it’s the ingredients of a healthier ice cream. But the magic of the Ninja is that it breaks up those ice crystals every time you churn it, so basically right before you eat it! Oooh the deluxe sounds great! I didn’t know they have that option. 😃 With the creami you can eat half and store the other half back in the freezer and just churn it again when you’re ready… so even if it’s quite large that would work out ok! I store mine in the pantry when I’m not using it because it takes up too much counter space for something that doesn’t get used everyday. (Especially in winter I’m not really using it at all!) Maybe in the summer if I’m using it frequently I’ll keep it out. 😄😄 That’s awesome you’re incorporating more vegan meals!! Love that! Definitely try some of these ice creams .. they are healthy and yummy. 😋 Lots of other vegan options for ice cream nowadays too so I’m sure you’ll get great use out of whichever ice cream maker you get!

    Hi, please can I use cassava starch in place of the tapioca starch??

    • @LetsEatPlants
      @LetsEatPlants Місяць тому

      I believe they’re the same!? Here’s what chatGPT says: “Cassava starch and tapioca starch refer to the same product derived from the cassava root. Tapioca starch is simply another name for cassava starch, and both terms are used interchangeably. The starch is extracted from the cassava root and is widely used in cooking and baking for its thickening properties. So, there is no difference between cassava starch and tapioca starch; they are the same substance.” Hope that helps! 😊

    It's not really even that hard. Buffets can have items to make a bowl. Grains, potatoes, various veggies, salad greens, sauces to dribble over it. Good to go! But it's like cooks don't know what to do without slapping meat and cheese onto a dish. Glad to see things are starting to change, they are trying... I guess.

      You can definitely add some vegan cheese! There are a few on my channel that would be great on this. 😊😊
